Lack of income raises internet exclusion: Income is the biggest barrier to bridging the digital divide in Australia, opposition communications spokesman Malcolm Turnbull says.

Mr Turnbull said the most troubling communications issue for him was how some low-income households were disadvantaged against accessing the internet.

He said the nation's lowest income earners were eight times more likely to not be connected than those on higher incomes.
